4th and Festive

Y’all. I LIVE for the Fourth of July.

It’s my very favorite holiday (just after Christmas, but it’s a VERY close second), and has been since I was little.

I love everything about it- the food, the people, the fireworks, the festivities! The Fourth of July has always felt so vibrant and energetic, filled with the best people and sweetest memories.

This year I’m headed home with my cousin to spend a couple days with my extended family, and drift aimlessly on the lake fueled by a healthy dose of tart cherries, crisp sweet corn and (hopefully) a few of my uncles heavy handed drinks 😉

If you’re still finalizing your Fourth of July BBQ plans and need a few more last minute ideas or inspiration, my sweet friend Emily and I put together a few simple ideas below that are sure to wow at any party you attend.

Happy Fourth friends and be safe!

Can we talk about how cute and SIMPLE this little fruit platter is?! A crate each of strawberries and blueberries and a Bag each of yogurt covered pretzels and cherries, make this the easiest, yet most festive appetizer ever.

These Firecracker watermelon skewers were also too easy to make. I bought this little cookie cutter from Target, a watermelon and used the leftover blueberries from above, with wooden skewers and stacked them to create this fun and whimsical snack. One KEY tip is to buy a seedless watermelon. We accidentally got seeded and because of the seeds the watermelon was a little weaker, therefore, harder to get a good cookie cutter shape out of.

Boozy Tip: Soak your watermelon in champagne for an extra little kick at an adult friendly party.

How cute is Finnley? He was all dressed up in his star-spangled paraphernalia, like the True American he is.
