Galentine’s Day

“What is Galentine’s Day you ask? It’s only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas.” -Leslie Knope

There are a few things I really love in life,#1 being all my lady friends and #2 is throwing really fun parties… and Galentine’s is always a fun party.

We had golden brown waffles (in true parks and rec fashion) piled high with thick whip cream, tart berries and mini chocolate chips. We ate crunchy bacon while sipping creamy coffee and sparkling mimosas.

We talked about traveling to far off places, career aspirations and all the people and experiences in our lives that bring us joy. It was so light and cheerful and such a wonderful way to celebrate love beyond that of a significant other.

I’ve always believed it takes a tribe to support you and create a life that’s worth living, and I couldn’t be more thankful for this little community of strong women: dreamers and do-ers, that bring a little extra spice to my life.

The balloon arch was my absolute favorite part of the decor, it was also a total pain in the ass. I chose to undertake this arch on my own which involved a lot of balloons popping, searing hot glue on my skin and a few choice curse words. There were a few dark moments during the creation process I thought I should just call it quits and take it all down, but looking at how the final product turned out I have nothing but heart eyes. To create the arch I followed this tutorial which tells you exactly what materials you’ll need, complete with a step-by-step process. My own personal advice: Open the bottle of wine before you get started, ask a friend for help, and make sure your glue gun is LOW TEMPERATURE.

I teamed up with Something Styled Floral Design to create these amazing floral arrangements that added life and color to the party. Another element that added color and whimsy were all of the tassel garlands. This tutorial shows a simple way to create your own garland.

To all my Galentines- I love you like XO,

Kenna
