The Cold Shoulder

untitled shoot-466

I made a mistake about 4 months ago and got bangs. Don’t get me wrong, I loved the idea of bangs. I love how tousled and sexy they can be, but still totally put together- think Olivia Wild, not so much Zoey Deschanel.

I was so sure I wanted them I made a spontaneous appointment and in about one hour walked out of the salon feeling like a new person.

Me and my new-found persona vibed for about a month and then I was over it.

Here’s the thing about bangs- they’re like a tattoo on your face. You can’t really hide them, and if you’re having a bad hair day the whole world knows. Another thing- they take FOREVER to grow back. I’m just past the awkward phase of looking like a shaggy dog, but they still drive me nuts about half the time.

Enter: the tiny top-knot. This hairstyle has become a go-to for me while my bangs are still growing out. It’s fun and flirty without being too unkempt.

I’m loving this season’s “Cold Shoulder” look and quickly snatched up this Free People chambray top. Paired with some basic black shorts and simple sandals, I could really add a pop of color with my bag. I love how simple and easy warm weather outfits are, and already know that this top is going to be on repeat.

Top: Free People (sold out, similar here and here)

Shorts: J. Crew

Shoes: Target Style

Bag: Ralph Lauren
