Western Wild

One of my New Year’s resolutions is to wear more hats.

Sometimes I think we take New Year’s resolutions too seriously. We think that all the sudden we’re going to wake up craving celery instead of chocolate and are magically going to drop 10 pounds. We’ll  start investing our finances in stock portfolios instead of splurging on shoes, and finally find the time to volunteer more.

While all of those are nice thoughts and really great things to do, lets be real, I’m a full blown chocolate addict, and the only way I eat celery is like a five year old- with mounds of peanut butter sprinkled with raisins (ants on a log anyone?) and that’s clearly defeats the point… so becoming the next Victoria’s Secret model isn’t happening anytime soon.

This year, instead of focusing on the negative and the many ways I can improve all my imperfections, I’m going to focus on living presently, taking time to enjoy the little things, and wear more hats.

Playing on Colorado’s “wild west” history, I paired my felt hat with a classic plaid flannel, chunky Aztec necklace and little cowgirl ankle booties. I love how none of the pieces scream “country” but all combine for a fresh take on “western” wear.
