Mother’s Day Gift Guide

mom mug

Once again, Mother’s day has totally snuck up on me.

My mom is a low-key kinda gal and we usually just spend the day by going to church and brunch afterwards. But even if she doesn’t need a swanky party complete with a mini tiara and pony, it’s still nice to appreciate the lady who has helped shape me into the woman I am today. So in honor of May 8th I’ve complied a list of 10 gifts for your mom to make her feel extra warm and fuzzy.

Happy Mother’s Day!

All About that Tile

nina dobrev home

Last week in Chicago was the international Coverings 2016 show.

What is Coverings? It’s a tile expo. No joke.

It’s basically the spring fashion week of interior design-but just tile. And now that I’m basically a full fledge adult, I got to go with my boss as my first official business trip, and it was awesome. I literally never thought I would be so pumped about tile, but I absolutely loved it. I loved seeing what people could dream up for fresh new ways to use and design tile.

Blackberry & Mint Champagne

blackberry

This past week was my birthday, and not that I need an excuse to drink champagne, but birthdays are always a good reason.

This recipe I found is the perfect spring cocktail to freshen up champagne. The blackberry simple syrups is sweet but tart, while the mint leaves add a refreshing layer to the champagne.

This drink is the perfect compliment to a fresh salad and creamy vanilla birthday cake.

Thoughts on Springtime and Paris

spring paris

Fernweh (n.)- A crave for travel; being homesick for a place you’ve never been.

I’ve never been to Paris. But let me just go ahead and say that I think the Parisians and I would get along great.

There’s something about spring that stirs an undercurrent of nostalgia. This season is filled with graduations, the ending of another school year, weddings, showers and so much more.

Spring is beautiful, with new life around every corner. They days are longer and the nights are shorter. Happy Hour is surrounded by a golden glow and the drinks are rich with sweet berries and refreshing mint.

Spring Break Getaway

IMG_1436

Let’s talk about one thing that’s totally BS about being an adult.

Vacation time.

Sure I get it, in the working world there’s stuff that has to get done. Like all the time.

But I miss the blissful days when I got a full week for Thanksgiving, a month off for Christmas and another week for Spring Break. Those were the Glory days.

Not anymore. In the real world you get about two weeks. Total. For the whole year. Let’s just say sometimes I feel like some sort of addict that was made to quit cold turkey.

So this weekend I’m boycotting. I’m headed for a long weekend of Bliss in the sunshine for a little R&R. It might not be a full week, but I’m hoping for a little break from my day-to-day life, and the bi-polar weather that is a Colorado spring. (Seriously, the spring snow storms March-May have GOT to stop.)

Spring Book Club

reading

Spring is one of my favorite seasons. I love how everything and everyone takes on new energy during the springtime. It’s as though you can feel everything that was dormant over the winter shaking off its sleepiness and wiggling into new life. Song birds start to sing again, little buds start bursting forth new colors and iced coffee seems extra inviting on a warm afternoon. On that note, if you’re anything like me, you love stealing away a few hours on a Sunday afternoon to sit at a coffee shop, sip on a creamy latte and dive into the pages of a new book. During this spring season I recommend grabbing a blanket and some sunshine and sinking your teeth into one of these great reads.

6 Going on 24

cake

This past weekend my friends and I threw a birthday party.

I love any good excuse to throw a party and celebrate, but this was particularly special because we were celebrating a Leap Day birthday. Rare right? There’s about a 1 in 1,500 chance that you’re born on leap day so naturally we had to do it up right- a girl only turns 6 once right?
