Ain’t No Angel

One of my favorite jobs I had during college was working at Victoria’s Secret. For some people that might sound like your nightmare, or borderline creepy, but for me it was really awesome to work with a bunch of women whose daily role was to help other women feel comfortable and sexy in their own skin.

I know that Victoria’s Secret can get a lot of flack for their add campaigns full of tiny women and “unattainable body goals,” and some women would say it’s even discouraging walking into their store; being surrounded by these adds and having to marry the idea of “ideal body standards” with their own body image. But that’s exactly why I LOVED working there.

I loved being surrounded by women all shapes and sizes who were convinced that every female has the right to feel empowered in her own skin. I loved helping someone find the right fit and feel that made them look and feel better in the clothes they’re wearing.

For me? I’ve always hated my big boobs. I had a mean nickname in High School that still makes me feel embarrassed six years later, but working at Victoria’s Secret actually began to help me embrace myself as I am, and to try to be the healthiest me I can be.

ALSO, their workout clothes are seriously bomb. For real. I’ve never loved another sports bra more than I love the Victoria’s Secret “Knockout”. For all you curvier girls out there that always had to double-up on your spandex before working out… no more! Go buy this bra. It’s the tits. Literally. *Insert laughing/crying emoji here* Also, their leggings hug you in ALL the right places 😉

Last caveat about buying good undergarments. GO GET MEASURED. I can almost guarantee that if you haven’t been measured in the last 6 months you’re wearing the wrong size. You don’t even have to buy a bra if you don’t want to. Just get measured.

K, ONE more… SPEND THE MONEY ON A GOOD BRA. People would come in all the time and tell me that things are too expensive, or that it’s too much money for such little fabric, and all I have to say to that is that you’ll spend hundreds of dollars on a pair of jeans that in the fall you wear maybe twice a week, but wont spend $50 on something you wear EVERYDAY? I don’t get the logic.

Go get sized, spend money on a nice bra, check out their active wear, and start feeling good in your own skin. Your happiness is worth too much not to.

Love love love,

Kenna
