The Ultimate Bachelorette Party

Y’all, Fourth of July weekend was one of the best weekends ever. Like seriously ever. My best friend Anna Hope got married to the man of her dreams beneath the  Three Sisters Peaks in the snow capped mountains of Oregon.

The weekend was like grown up summer camp:  We woke up early and drank sweetened coffee on the back deck while we watched the sun climb higher in the sky over the meadow. We rode bikes on winding paths, across meadows and beneath massive pine trees. We stayed up late laughing and having one too many brownies paired with one too many beers. The whole time celebrating two people whose deep devotion, optimism and love for one another were worth celebrating.

One of my favorite things about the weekend was being able to throw Anna a bachelorette party. With such a remote location for the event, my friend Kendall helped me come up with the perfect amount of silly ways to celebrate Anna’s last night of singleness while staying tucked in at her house.

Our theme was Tacos and Tequila- complete with homemade enchiladas, frozen margaritas and moustache photo props. Thinking ahead, Kendall and I made all of the banners and decoration in Colorado and shipped them to Oregon so that everything was ready to go when the night of the event came around.

To make the fringe banners we bought 3 different colors of tissue paper, and cut 1″ slits to give them a little fiesta flair. We then hot glued each sheet onto gold 1/2″ ribbon.

I was able to purchase plastic shot and margarita glasses from Amazon so we didn’t worry about dishes later in the night. To make sure that girls didn’t mix up glasses, we used these cute engagement ring drink labels from Etsy that come in varying pack sizes.

I found the cutest straws from the dollar section at target (but for real, so cute… they had pinwheels on them!). I also found the small gold chalkboard sign in the dollar section… total steal and reusable for more events in the future.

To complete the tablescape we scattered penis confetti (c’mon, there had to be a penis somewhere…), also found on Amazon. “A pinch of penis” as we liked to call it 😉

One of the biggest hits of the night was the watermelon jello shots. I found the recipe on Buzz-feed and was super anxious that this was going to be a pinterest fail, but it was a huge success. There’s a handle of Vodka in this one watermelon half so pace yourself, but they were the perfect party appetizer. And lets be real, so freaking cute in pictures.

For our Party favors I found these fun hair ties on Etsy. You can pick your color of hair ties (Pink and Gold sparkles.. duh.) and the saying that is on the card. We went the classic “to have and to hold your hair back”.

For the Guest book I bought an inexpensive picture frame, cardstock and a few different shades of dollar store lipstick and had each girl “kiss” the guest book and sign their name so that Anna has something to always remember the night. So cute and so inexpensive.

Finally, we printed “wed-libs” that guests could fill in throughout the night, and let me just say, they were that much funnier to read the next morning.

When planning this party, I was very adamant about wanting a photo-booth area. I love them. I think they make for the cutest pictures and are so easy to make. Our backdrop was inspired by a post I found on pinterest. I ordered extra wide crepe paper from Paper Mart and once again, Kendall and I cut 1″ strips into the sides to create the fringe look. It was so simple, and fairly inexpensive and they have such a large variety of colors that it was one of my favorite parts of the whole evening.

To complete the photo booth I bought a pack of glitter paper from the craft store and made photo props and the  “Drunk in Love” banner.

Oh yea, and the ultimate party prop: Justin Timberlake. The bride requested multiple times that he be there, and while his manager regretfully declined our invitation, we made sure Justin came to the party one way or another.

For actually party games we had two main activities. The first was a lingerie shower, where each guest brought a gift and came up with a “title” and “song” for their item. Then Anna would pick a title of the lingerie gift, we would play her the song and she had to guess who gave it to her. Every one she got wrong she drank, every one she got right the Party drank. Let me just say I was SO IMPRESSED. Anna got all but 4 correct!

And finally came the FUNDIES. Yes Fundies… two person underwear. I don’t know why these were ever invented but they were hands down the best part of the night. Kendall and I came up with a game where we split into two teams. Each team had two people run at a time, one blindfolded, and they had to kiss Justin (think pin the tail on the donkey). If this wasn’t funny enough, we made a rule where everyone had to have a drink in their hand at all times. It made for lots of laughing and a little bit of a mess, but so so worth it.

I’m also going to go ahead and say that my team (Team 1) were the winners. Sorry team 2, you suck.

It was seriously one of my favorite nights I’ve had in a while and can only hope that the Bride and everyone else had as much fun as I did. Thanks for getting married little Anna B!

P.S. I know that my amateur photography skills leave a little to be desired, but I hope they still show how wonderful of a night it was!
